Dr. Zubayer Islam, an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida, is recognized for his significant contributions to transportation engineering and smart city development. He is serving as a Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI in multiple funded projects by USDOT, FDOT, CFX relating to computer vision, artificial intelligence and data analytics. With a background spanning Civil Engineering (Ph.D.), Computer Science (M.S.), and Electrical and Electronic Engineering (B.S.), he brings a diverse skill set to his work. His research primarily focuses on transportation safety and mobility, where he applies advanced technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence coupled with data fusion and sensing. Zubayer‘s publications in esteemed journals reflect his expertise in leveraging these methodologies to enhance transportation systems. He has over 30 publications in various journals such as IEEE-ITS, TR-C, AAP, Nature Portfolio, etc.
