About me
Martín is a civil engineer with nearly 10 years of experience encompassing professional and academic work. B. S. in civil engineering from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) in 2014, M. Sc. And Ph. D. from Virginia Tech (2019, 2022 respectively), and licensed P. E. in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Worked as junior civil engineer at the highway design for a Uruguayan consultancy company [CSI] (2015-2017), duties spanning between geometric, structural, and drainage, signaling, and budgeting.
His graduate education research at Virginia Tech involved Mechanistic-Empirical pavement design implementations (M. Sc. Thesis) and the structural evaluation of jointed concrete pavements with a Traffic-Speed Deflectometer (Ph. D. Dissertation). This activity was encompassed within the TPF 5(385) project and carried out at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute [VTTI].
Between 2022-2023, Martín continued on the research track with VTTI, collaborating with efforts towards the routine adoption of TSD technology for network-wide pavement assessments within the TPF 5(385) and 5(518) projects.
From September 2023, along with his return to the homeland, he become appointed Senior Research Engineer within ARRB Systems, Inc., supporting ARRB’s operations with their iPAVe fleet in the USA and abroad. Simultaneously, he also returned to CSI as a senior pavement engineer, collaborating in pavement design and rehabilitation projects, and continued collaborating with VTTI in TSD-related research.
