As the Chief Engineer of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Rizwan Baig, P.E., oversees the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective planning, architectural and engineering design, asset management, and construction management services in support of the Agency’s 10-year, 37-billion-dollar Capital Plan, ensuring the structural integrity, life safety, and code compliance of all Agency facilities.
Throughout his career, Rizwan has demonstrated strong leadership ability by motivating staff and aligning resources to achieve project success, with a passion for envisioning creative and innovative transportation solutions, while creating a respectful, collaborative, and responsive workplace culture of belonging. As a proven transportation industry leader, he spearheaded coalition building with all business lines (Air, Land, Rail & Sea) and NY/NJ regional partners to ensure that critical Agency projects are planned and constructed in the most effective manner to achieve shared mobility goals and objectives.
Rizwan has been a barrier-breaking strategic pioneer, unifying his entire staff towards a shared vision. He led a cultural change in design innovation, project planning and execution; and striving for excellence in operations. Rizwan supports the Agency’s Priorities: Customer Experience (Providing a 21st-century traveler experience), Sustainability (Reducing the Agency’s environmental impact), and Operational Excellence (Delivering first-class operations) among others, helping meet its Global Best Practices and 21st Century Technology Standards through Innovation.
