About me
Dr. Appelt has a Doctoral Degree in civil engineering as well as a Double Diploma in Civil Engineering and IT from the Dresden University of Technology. His more than 30 years of professional experience covers work, in Germany and abroad, in the fields of: BIM, road, rail, airports, traffic, IT, energy, logistics, and automotive industrial plants. In the field of BIM, specifically, he is experienced in the management of planning data for major construction projects with 3D, 4D, and 4D BIM applications. Since 1998, Dr. Appelt has been both shareholder the managing director of A+S Consult GmbH. With its own innovative software solution for 5D coordination, the KorFin® BIM platform, A+S Consult plays a decisive role in the introduction of BIM planning processes in Germany and in international projects. As one of the BIM pioneers in Germany, Dr. Appelt is also a BIM lecturer at the German Excellence Universities TU Dresden/TU Munich with the lecture series "BIM in infrastructure". Additionally, he is a member of buildingSMART Germany’s expert committee "Professional Certification” and is responsible for their upcoming Practitioner Certificate. A+S advises the German Railways on BIM standardization and takes part in several other professional activities for BIM implementation and standardization.
